Maid roleplay spans a huge range — from purely wholesome content featuring a cheerful housekeeper who cooks, cleans, and provides warm companionship, to more explicitly intimate 'maid service' scenarios. The appeal lies partly in the character type itself (devoted, attentive, caring) and partly in the rich visual and cultural context that Japanese maid aesthetics carry. Many maid works are notable for their detailed scenario-setting and the warmth of the relationship between the character and 'master.'
