Femdom (female dominance) is a substantial genre in Japanese R-18 voice works, encompassing a wide range from lightly teasing 'gap moe' characters who are usually cold but become possessive, to intensely dominant mistress personas. Japanese femdom voice works often have a distinctive flavor compared to Western counterparts — the dominance is frequently mixed with genuine affection or possessiveness, and many works feature a 'lovey-dovey ending' (イチャラブエンド) where the dominant character reveals deep feelings for the listener.
